Floor slab thickening method
1. Overview
The floor slab thickening method involves adding concrete to the upper and lower surfaces of floor slabs to improve their load bearing capacity. Usually, rebar is installed within the thickened sections.
2. Key Features
- The upper surface thickening method is a floor slab thickening method which involves adding concrete to the upper surface of bridge floor slabs, resulting in a change in the height of the bridge surface. Traffic restrictions must be put in place during the construction period.
- The bottom surface thickening method is a floor slab thickening method which involves adding concrete to the bottom surface of bridge floor slabs, and it does not require any restriction of traffic over the bridge during construction. Spraying and other such methods are employed when dealing with a wide area.
